advertising department. This
was good for all the other
companies also.
Evolution of the High Rise Bicycle 1964
High Rise Bicycle Boom? By 1964 most bicycle manufactures had their own brand of high Rise bike, and
nearly all had the same basic design as the 1963 huffy penguin and Schwinn Stingray. The main difference
thus far was Names, Prices, and Accessories to add to them!
Their older brothers were
busy under the hoods of Max
1964 was really the begining
Wedge Mopars, and other
early Muscle Cars, while
younger brother was along
side trying to duplicate the
Muscle Car onto his bicycle.

1964 Huffy Dragster's (Brother to the 1963 Penguin)
Combined With the help of the Chevrolet Corvette, & Schwinn the Stingray name had become nearly
a household name within less than a year and so well known other companies tried to cash in on
the Stingray name in their ad's.
In 1964 many new bikes were on the market, but really other than color
and names they mostly looked alike. Kids were hungry to make their
bikes their own so they turned to Kustomizing, and adding Accessories.
The sky was the limit, and you could find all kinds of new items coming
out to Kustomize your bike such as Leopard Print seats, Wheel inserts,
and more.
The bikes above are badged
Sears but the orange one is a
Huffy, and the Chrme looks like a
Murray.
Sears Badged bikes were in
full swing, and also had their
own Vroom motors ready to
drive parents nuts!
